This explains what Austin Fitness does with the details you give us when you sign up for open day and opening news on this website. The short version: we ask for as little as we can, we use it only to tell you about the gym, and you can leave at any time.
Who we are
Austin Fitness, The Yard, Belle Vue Road, Ashbourne, Derbyshire DE6 1AT. We are the data controller for the details you give us. For anything about your data, email austinfitnessashbourne@outlook.com.
What we collect
- Your name and email address, from the signup form.
- What you are coming to the gym for, in your own words, from the same form.
- Your confirmation. When you click the link in our confirmation email, our email provider records that you did and when. That is our record of your consent.
- Basic technical details, such as your IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider handles to deliver this page and protect it from abuse.
- Visitor numbers. Cloudflare Web Analytics tells us which pages are visited, which website sent visitors here, and their browser, device type and country. It uses no cookies and does not identify you or follow you across other websites.
Why we use it
- To send you membership and opening news: the open day and when the doors open. We rely on your consent for this, which you give by signing up and confirming your email.
- To plan the gym. Knowing what people want from the gym helps us decide on kit and staffing. This is covered by the same consent.
- To run the website safely. Handling technical details to serve the page and block attacks is in our legitimate interests in keeping the site working.
- To improve the website. Counting visits shows us which pages are useful and whether the site is quick. This is in our legitimate interests, and because it cannot identify you it does not need your consent.
We do not sell your details, share them with other businesses for their own marketing, or use them to make automated decisions about you.
Who else handles it
- Kit (kit.com) stores our mailing list and sends our emails. Kit is based in the United States, so your details are transferred there under the safeguards UK data protection law requires. Our emails may tell us whether they were opened and which links were clicked, so we can tell what is useful.
- Cloudflare hosts this website, passes the signup form to Kit and counts visits for us.
Both act only on our instructions and are bound by data processing terms.
If you choose to show the map on our About page, it loads from Google Maps. Google then receives your IP address and may set cookies, under Google's privacy policy. The map only loads when you ask for it.
How long we keep it
We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. If you unsubscribe, we may keep your email address on a suppression list so you are not added again by mistake.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the details we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your details
- stop or limit how we use them
- send them to you or another organisation in a common format
You can withdraw your consent at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, or by emailing austinfitnessashbourne@outlook.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and our visitor numbers work without cookies. See our cookie policy for details.
Changes
If we change how we use your details, we will update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will email you before it takes effect.
